Thierry, Thérèse, Léa, Henri and Chloé wish you a warm welcome to the Château Berthenon web site.

Château Berthenon came into the PLANTEUR/PONZ family in 1953 when Paul Planteur (the grandfather) purchased this virtually abandoned property. He soon passed the estate on to his daughter, (Léa and Henri) who renovated and brought the property back to life. Since 1999 it is the third generation (Thérèse and Thierry) that are taking their turn to oversee the future of the property.
Château Berthenon currently covers 32 Ha and produces an average of 1800 Hl of wine each year.

We produce Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée wines (1ères Côtes de Blaye and Bordeaux).
Winemaking, ageing, bottling and labeling all take place at the château respecting traditional techniques and using the latest innovations where appropriate.
